PCT 101: Post-Cycle Therapy Explained!!!!!!
So, you have decided that you want to use steroids to build your body BEYOND what nature intended, well good because I do too!!! You have the cycle all mapped out, the ancillary products ready to go and all is good, except for one of, if not the most important part to all of this, and that is PCT!!! What you do following the cycle will play a huge role in how much you retain from that cycle and help set you up for future cycles down the road, and trust me there will be more!!!
Before we even begin, I want to first start off by explaining what exactly post-cycle therapy is and why its important in the first place. Once a cycle is finished, usually after 12-16 weeks depending on the compounds used and the experience level of the individual your body is in a state of what is called hypogonadism. Essentially your nuts DO NOT produce enough, if any, Testosterone to function like a normal male because, well you shut your bodies production down from cycling steroids. This low Test state will lead to a cascade of effects and symptoms such as lethargy, low sex drive, increased water retention, loss of muscle, depression and acne, all of which is the exact opposite of what is needed to retain some of the gains made on cycle. Now I want to make this crystal clear, YOU WILL NOT RETAIN ALL OF THE MUSCLE BUILT ON CYCLE!!!!! Please read that statement again!!!! It just isn’t realistic to keep everything without an abundance of anabolics in our bodies. But fore the sake of health and longevity we all need to come off after a certain point. Plus, there does come a point where the compounds are no longer working as your body has essentially built up a tolerance and coming off allows the drugs to work better when it is time to cycle again.
Typically following a cycle there is a period of 3-6 weeks where we are using compounds designed to force our body to kick-start our natural test levels and get our body back to functioning as normally as possible. The 3 compounds most commonly used are Clomid, Nolvadex and HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), sometimes collectively in an attempt to reset our bodies. Outside of PCT drugs a general rule for any beginner in regards to cycling is “time on should equal time off not counting PCT” . So if an athlete is on for 12 weeks and then does a 4 week PCT they should wait AT LEAST 16 weeks before attempting another cycle.
